POLICE have closed part of a Portsmouth road after a car crashed into a garden wall.

Officers were called to Cromwell Road, in Eastney, after a Ford Mondeo smashed into the wall and damaged the bay window of a house. No-one was inside at the time.

Two people inside the car at the time suffered minor injuries.

Police say Virgin Media was called as a junction box has also been damaged. A council structural engineer has also been made aware of the situation.

A section of Cromwell Road has been closed while police work at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Chris Coole, who works behind the bar at the nearby Eastney Tavern, said: ‘It’s a hot topic right now.

‘Someone has crashed into the wall of a house so police have cordoned off the road just passed Worsley Street.’
