TWO teenagers were beaten up by thugs who also stole a £120 mobile phone.

A 16-year-old and his friend were approached by three men in Fratton Road, close to the junction with Garnier Street, in Landport around 12.30am on Saturday.

The men assaulted both friends and stole the victim’s mobile phone – worth £120 – before running off.

One of the men was described as 6ft 2in tall, and wore a blue Adidas tracksuit.

The other had dark hair, and wore a dark Adidas tracksuit.

The victim returned home and reported the robbery to police later that morning, and both teenagers suffered bruising.

Detective Constable Jim Wells from Portsmouth CID said: ‘There were a lot of people around on Fratton Road at the time.

‘Two girls, believed to be around 16 years old, stopped to check and see if the aggrieved and his friend were ok after the assault.

‘I’d like to hear from them, to find out if they saw the whole incident, or anyone else who may have witnessed anything.’

Witnesses can call 101.
