A WARNING has gone out after a rogue trader demanded money from an elderly lady for work he failed to carry out.

A man, described as white, between 25 and 35 years old and around 5ft 7in tall, knocked at the pensioner’s home in Park Gate and said he had completed works on her roof and hedge.

He was wearing a blue tracksuit and was slightly overweight and then demanded £5,000.

The elderly lady was confused and wrote a cheque, which has since been cancelled.

But the man returned to the house the next day, on August 13. When the pensioner told him she had called the police, he ran away.

PC Sam Couchman, from Fareham police, said: ‘We are currently on the lookout for the male. Please report any possible sightings or suspicious activity to us on 101.’
