POLICE are urging the public not to walk alone at night after a man indecently exposed himself to three teenagers.

The 19-year-old women were jogging along Southsea Esplanade towards Eastney when they saw the man, who was walking in the opposite direction.

He exposed himself before crossing the road towards Canoe Lake and the Rose Garden at about 8.20pm on Tuesday.

PC Daniel Neligan says these incidents are rare, but is urging people to take simple safety precautions, particularly at night: ‘If you are out with friends, stay together; and where you can, keep a mobile phone with you, in case you need to call for help,’ he said.

Police are keen to speak to a man seen walking into the nearby Royal Beach Hotel at 8.30pm on Tuesday in connection with their investigation.

The suspect is white, 6ft tall, and aged 45-50. He wore a dark, zip-up top, possibly with a hood, combat-style trousers
