SCOUTS spread the message of safety with the police.
Boys from the 62nd Portsmouth Scouts were at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, handing out wristbands to parents and children.
Famillies can write phone numbers on their children’s wristbands so they can be contacted if the youngster goes missing. It is part of the police’s Child Safe programme.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, 12 children were reported missing in Portsmouth city centre last year.
PC Lee Wright said: ‘By a using the scheme, a child can be reunited more quickly.’
