A SERIAL thief caught shoplifting six times in a three-week period has been sent back to jail.

Sarah Thorne had been released on licence from a previous 28-day prison sentence when she was caught committing the string of new offences.

The 43-year-old stole lager from a Grande Wines store in Gosport on two separate occasions on April 13.

Thorne had also stolen washing tablets worth £22.77 from a Gosport Co-op three days earlier.

On April 6 she stole alcohol worth £18.49 from the Waitrose store in Stoke Road, Gosport.

She had stolen 10 packets of ham from a Co-op in Gosport four days earlier.

Thorne, of no fixed abode, also took meat from the Gosport Morrisons store in Walpole Road on March 27.

She pleaded guilty to all six offences at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

Thorne was sentenced to 60 days in prison due to her previous convictions and failure to respond to community sentences. No order for costs was made.
