THE sentence of a man who sexually abused unconscious women has been increased.

Romeo Cummins was sentenced to 13 years and six months at Winchester Crown Court in August after admitting 16 counts of rape, one sexual assault, and five drugs offences at a previous hearing.

But the Attorney General’s office appealed the sentence as ‘unduly lenient’.

On Thursday Lady Justice Rafferty imposed a new sentence of life sentence with a minimum of 18 years at the Court of Appeal.

The scheme allows for anyone to refer sentences for certain types of offences as overly lenient.

Cummins, 47, of Fountains Close, Basingstoke, was stopped and searched then arrested by police who then discovered evidence of abuse.

Police found more than 100 videos which contained footage of the sexual offences.
