Serial shoplifter from Gosport sent to prison for crimes

ALCOHOL thief Melanie Pocock has been jailed.

Pocock, of Ham Lane, Gosport, pleaded guilty to stealing four bottles of spirits worth £75 from a Co-op store in Lee-on-the-Solent.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing five bottles of spirits and two bottles of Champagne worth £126 from an Asda store in Fareham.

She admitted stealing a bottle of Bacardi worth £14 from a Co-op in Gosport.

Pocock also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody.

She stole more than £230 of alcohol in two separate thefts from Waitrose in Gosport and £70.48 of makeup from Boots in Cosham High Street.

The crimes were committed between June 2 and September 3.

At Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, Pocock was sentenced to two weeks in jail. Magistrates made no order for compensation.
