A SERIAL shoplifter has been jailed for a string of thefts.

Simon Peter Davison, of Victoria Road, Southsea, pleaded guilty to committing four thefts between June 24 and September 20.

The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing £80.75 of meat from a Tesco Express store in Elm Grove, Southsea.

Davison also admitted stealing a Bosch power tool worth £99.98 from B&Q at The Pompey Centre in Fratton Way, Fratton, Portsmouth.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to surrender to custody.

And he admitted stealing goods worth a total of £170.99 from Sainsbury’s in Albert Road, Southsea, in two separate thefts.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison by Portsmouth magistrates.

Magistrates made no order for Davison to pay costs or compensation.
