Sex assault victim stamps on man's foot to escape Portsmouth attack
Police said a 45-year-old woman was walking through the covered pathway on St Mary’s bridge, St Mary’s Road, in Fratton, when she was approached.
The victim heard footsteps approaching from behind, the force said.

Hide AdHe then grabbed her by her left shoulder, spun her round and pinned her against the wal.
The man then touched her over clothing and tried to put his hands in her trousers.
Police said the victim stamped on his foot and fled.
Investigating officer, DC Stephen Hill, said: ‘This type of incident is not common; we haven’t received any other reports of any similar incidents in the area.
‘The woman, while unhurt, was understandably very shaken by this incident.

Hide Ad‘We’re appealing for the public’s help to find the man responsible. Anyone who has any information, or recognises the man, is urged to call police.’
It happened on Friday, December 2. between 12pm and 1pm.
Police said he was Asian, had a long, black beard, was wearing black, ripped tracksuit bottoms, a black coat and a black woolly hat.
The man was said to smell of alcohol.
