POTENTIALLY dangerous medicine has been stolen from a car in Gosport.

A safety warning has been issued by Hampshire Constabulary after seizure medication was taken from the vehicle.

A Citroen Picasso was broken into in Pound Close between 11pm last night, and 10.15am today.

Bags were taken from the car, and inside one was a quantity of Tegretol – which contains, and is also known as, carbamazepine.

Its side effects include dehydration, blackouts, dizziness and raised heart rates.

Also taken was a quantity of bisoprolol, which slows down the heart rate and if taken in large amounts can cause death.

And an iPad and iPod were stolen too.

PC RogerLoxton-Gear, who is investigating, said: ‘I would urge anyone that has been offered these tablets not to take them and seek immediate medical advice if they have.

‘Have you been offered any of the medication or an iPad or iPod together? Or do you know of someone that has been trying these items?’

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
