POLICE say a stolen motorbike was used in a burglary.

A red Suzuki was taken from Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, and was then used in an attempted burglary at Drayton News on Havant Road, Drayton.

Two suspects got into the store at 2am on Saturday by smashing a glass pane in the door. They tried to steal cigarettes from behind the kiosk shutter but were unsuccessful.

Police say the motorbike – with the registration R476 HFM – may have been spotted an hour before the attempted raid.

Just after 1am, two people on a red motorbike pulled up at the BP petrol station on West Street, Portchester, filled up with fuel and left without paying.

They wore dark tracksuits, one with a yellow and dark coloured helmet, the other with a white and red helmet.

Det Con Jim Garrett said: ‘We believe the incidents are related. I’d like to hear from anyone who saw two people riding a red motorbike around the Paulsgrove, Portchester and Drayton areas on Friday night into Saturday morning. Perhaps you saw them steal the bike, saw where they went or even know who they are?’ Call police on 101.
