A MAN suspected of making and distributing indecent images of children is believed to have visited the Portsmouth area.

David Wood, 46, formerly of Bexhill Road in Eastbourne, has been charged with offences relating to indecent images of children. He was arrested by detectives from the Paedophile On Line Investigation Team from Sussex Police in August 2010.

This year he was charged with 12 offences, which comprised five counts of distribution of indecent images of children, and seven counts of making indecent images of children.

Mr Wood had left his Eastbourne address earlier this year and had been staying in rented accommodation in Southampton for several months. He is also known to have visited the Portsmouth area.

Now police in Sussex have appealed to anyone with concerns about possible offences to contact them.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: ‘We will always take seriously reports of alleged offending of this type, whether they come from law enforcement or the public.

‘Anyone who has concerns or information about possible offences can contact us in confidence at any time via 101, asking for the Sussex Paedophile On Line Investigation Team.’

Mr Wood remains in custody.
