SHOPLIFTER Daniel Grainger has been spared jail.

Grainger admitted seven thefts in a two-month period.

The 21-year-old stole £41.05 of Lynx deodorant from Boots in London Road, North End, on November 15. Three days earlier he fled Maplin in Kingston Road, Buckland with four robot kits.

Grainger also targeted Co-op in London Road, North End, stealing £40 of meat on October 30. A day earlier he targeted Co-op in Copnor Road, Copnor – the value of goods he stole is unknown.

Then on October 12 he hit Co-op in Sultan Road, Buckland, stealing household products worth £67.55. Grainger also admitted stealing meat from Co-op in Fratton Road, Fratton, on October 6. And on September 17 he stole £75.53 of goods from Co-op in Twyford Avenue, Stamshaw.

Grainger, of Heathfield Road, North End, was sentenced to three months in jail, suspended for a year, and put under 12 months supervision. He admitted the offences while on a 12-month conditional discharge for theft. No action was taken on the breach.
