POLICE are stepping up roadside checks as they crack down on drink-drivers.

Officers in West Sussex have launched their drink-drive campaign in the run-up to Christmas.

During the same campaign last year, 6,501 tests were carried out in a seven-week period, with 176 drivers arrested.

Chief Inspector Di Roskilly, of Sussex Police’s roads policing unit, said: ‘Drink and/or drug driving will not be tolerated in Sussex.’
