FREE taster tennis sessions are being offered to the public in celebration of Wimbledon finals week.

The Lawn Tennis Association and local coaches will be in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square until Sunday, weather permitting.

Schools can take part between 11am and noon and sessions are open to the public from noon until 4pm.

There will also be two cardio tennis sessions each day, from 12.30pm until 1pm, and from 1.30pm until 2pm, when pedometers will be used to see how many steps can be done in 30 minutes.

Craig Willcock, Portsmouth City Council cultural development officer said: ‘This is a great opportunity for people to develop their tennis skills, with the help of professional coaches and members of the Lawn Tennis Association.’
