A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of arson.

The teenager was arrested on Wednesday night after a fire broke out in derelict flats in Rowner, Gosport.

Firefighters from across the area were called to the incident on Nimrod Drive, which took place at around 7.45pm.

Ambulance and police were also called and police arrested a 16-year-old on scene.

He has been released on bail until June 27 pending further enquiries.

The firefighters had to battle the blaze from both sides of the unused flats and Tesco car park was cordoned off for around two hours.

Eye witnesses say they saw a teenager on the balcony of the flats moments before flames and smoke appeared.

Janette Enfield, who was visiting Tesco, said: ‘All you could see was black smoke and bright flames.’
