Teenage boy denies murdering man found dead at flat in Fareham

A TEENAGER has denied murdering a 29-year-old man.

The 17-year-old Gosport boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, today pleaded not guilty to murdering Michael Deary during a brief hearing at Winchester Crown Court.

Mr Deary was found dead at his home in Omaha Close, Fareham, on August 20.

The boy was charged over the death on August 26.

Judge Keith Cutler remanded the teenager in custody until the next hearing.

A trial, which is expected to last three weeks, is due to begin on January 21.

Another hearing will take place on December 14 at Winchester.

Hampshire police detectives had released a photo of Mr Deary during the investigation in a bid to find witnesses.

Specialist officers are providing support to Mr Deary's family.

Officers had been called to his flat at 12.40pm on August 20.
