AN INVESTIGATION is under way after a vicious homophobic attack on a 16-year-old boy.

The incident happened outside the Stavros Takeaway, opposite The Globe public house, in Southgate, Chichester.

The boy was approached by an 18-year-old man who made homophobic remarks towards him.

The attacker then challenged the boy to fight, before punching him in the face.

The victim’s hat was removed and thrown on to a nearby roof, a hot chocolate drink was knocked from his grasp and his spectacles were thrown into the road.

The glasses were stamped on and crushed by the offender.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses following the attack, which happened at about 12.30am last Saturday, although details have just been released by police.
