A TEENAGER was assaulted while walking in Fareham yesterday evening.

The 19-year-old woman was walking from St Anne’s Grove to Bishopsfield Road, at around 7pm, when she was approached by a man dressed in dark clothing.

The man pushed her to the floor and assaulted her. The victim managed to break free and ran away.

Hampshire Police has made a plea for information following the attack.

Detective Sergeant Steve Toms said: ‘We are in the early stages of our investigation and are still following up a number of lines of enquiry.

‘Currently the motive of the attack is unknown.

‘We are working closely with the victim to establish exactly where the attack took place.

‘Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Did you see or hear anything out of the ordinary?

‘I would urge anyone any information to get in touch with us.

‘As always, I would urge people to be vigilant, especially when walking alone during the hours of darkness.

‘If you see anything suspicious, call the police.’
