A 17-YEAR-OLD girl was sexually assaulted after a man grabbed her as she walked home.
The teenager was walking back from a friend’s house through a wooded area when the attack happened between Battens Way, Stockheath Way, and Petersfield Road in Leigh Park, Havant.
Her attacker then walked off towards Battens Way between 10pm and 10.45pm last night.
The terrified victim called police on her mobile phone.
Police have cordoned off a large area of Leigh Park in Havant while officers investigate the crime scene.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: ‘A 17-year-old woman was walking home from Havant town centre through a wooded area between Battens Way, Stockheath Way and Petersfield Road from a friend’s house when she was grabbed by a white man dressed in dark clothing and sexually assaulted.
‘The man was last seen walking off towards Battens Way from the woods.
‘It is unclear how long this man had been in the wooded area and police are very keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously entering the woods during the evening.
‘The 17-year-old left the woods and raised the alarm by calling police on her mobile phone.
‘The area has been cordoned off for a crime scene investigation.’
Police were due to interview the victim this morning.
