A TEENAGER has appeared in court over an attack which left a man in a coma.

An 18-year-old from Gosport has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and actual bodily harm.

He appeared at court in Portsmouth yesterday and was remanded in custody.

It comes after 49-year-old Andrew Toseland was beaten unconscious at Garland Court, Gosport, on Saturday.

His worried mother Nina Toseland yesterday told The News how he is in an induced coma because of the serious head injuries he received.

Police also arrested a woman, aged 22, from Gosport on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

She has been bailed to return to Fareham police station on October 18.

A 16-year-old boy, and three men aged 18, 21, and 25, all from Gosport, were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and have all been bailed to return to Fareham police station on October 17.

A 27-year-old man from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been bailed to return to Fareham police station on October 17.

And a 20-year-old man from Gosport was also arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent but was released with no further action.
