THE front desk of Havant police station is closing temporarily while maintenance work takes place.

Front desk staff from the police will be based at Havant Borough Council’s Public Service Plaza, across the road from the station, until Tuesday at 4.30pm.

The closure is to allow engineers to make a routine replacement of the station’s electrical mains distribution board.

The yellow phone box on the front wall outside Havant Police Station will remain available to the public during the temporary closure.

It provides a direct line to the Force Enquiry Centre 24 hours a day.

Levels of policing in the community will remain the same.

Hampshire Constabulary’s eastern area front office service manager Rianne Horner said: ‘We’re sorry for any inconvenience this situation may cause.

‘However, the closure of Havant station is only temporary for just under a week.

‘A front office service to the community is being continued thanks to the support from Havant Borough Council.

‘We’re most grateful to the local authority for providing facilities.’
