A MAN has been fined for possessing cannabis.

Michael Waterhouse, from Palmerston Road, Southsea, pleaded guilty to committing the offence after being caught with the class B drug on him in Albert Road, Southsea, on March 11.

Waterhouse also pleaded guilty to committing the crime while subject to a conditional discharge.

Portsmouth magistrates had imposed it on Waterhouse as a punishment for stealing a hammer from a shop at the Pompey Centre, Goldsmith Avenue, Southsea, in December.

Waterhouse was fined £85 by Portsmouth magistrates.

The 39-year-old was also told to pay £15 into a fund for victims of crime.

Magistrates also made an order for the drugs to be destroyed.
