A PROLIFIC thief has been told to get help for his drug addiction.

Liam Farrell was ordered to have 12 months of drug rehabilitation after Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court heard he had carried out a string of offences.

The 25-year-old stole three beef roasting joints, worth £80 from Waitrose, in Waterlooville and 20 DVDs, worth £300, from Matalan in Waterlooville.

He also took a £30 Breville fryer from Argos and 12 packets of Cathedral City cheese from the Co-op.

On another occasion he stole eight bottles of spirits from the Co-op.

Farrell, of Milton Road, Waterlooville, pleaded guilty to five charges of theft and asked for another four to be taken into consideration by the court.

He was given a 12-month community order.

As well as the drug treatment Farrell will also have 12 months of supervision from the probation service.
