A CHARITY shop was targeted by a thief who ran away with a donation box.

A man was seen entering The Rainbow Centre charity shop, in Eastney Road, Eastney, between 10.45am to 11am, on Thursday.

He looked around, before attempting to grab the charity box.

The man then left the shop before returning 10 minutes later and taking the charity box from the counter while the shop manager was in the back of the store.

He headed off towards Bransbury Park with the charity box, which contained around £50 in change.

The suspect was a white man, aged mid-30s, who was slim and wearing a black woollen hat and a black anorak.

Investigating officer PC Hannah Baker said: ‘If anyone was in Eastney Road, near The Rainbow Centre charity shop between 10.45am to 11am on Thursday, who may have witnessed the theft or a man matching this description, please contact the police.’

Anyone with information should contact PC Baker at Southsea Police Station on 101, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
