NINE shops in Portsmouth were targeted by thieves who used a stolen motorcycle in raids over Easter.

Detectives are appealing for information about the break-ins, which involved two men.

The bike, a green Honda CBR, was stolen from the garage of a house in Hatherley Road, Cosham at some time overnight from Friday to Saturday.

On Saturday at 4am, there was an attempted break-in at Shearer Stores, Shearer Road.

Forty minutes later there was another attempted break-in, this time at the Co-op on London Road. Five minutes after that the thieves broke into the Spar on St Mary’s Road, but were disturbed.

Between 11.10pm on Saturday and 5.50am on Sunday they attempted to get into the Co-op on Chatsworth Avenue.

At 3am on Sunday they attempted to break in at the Tesco garage, Northarbour.

Between 11pm on Sunday and 5.30am on Monday they attempted to break into the Chichester Road One-Stop.

At 1.20am on Monday they stole cigarettes from Somerfield, London Road.

At 3am they stole items from David Anthony Hairdressing, Winter Road. And at 3.10am they tried a second break-in to the Spar on St Mary’s Road, unsuccessfully.

The motorbike was found abandoned at 11.30am on Monday in George Street, Fratton.
