THREE people have been bailed following a hit-and-run accident which left two women seriously injured.

They were struck by a car as they crossed Stoke Road, Gosport, on Saturday at 11.15pm. As reported, the driver failed to stop.

The victims – a 20-year-old from Fareham and a 19-year-old from Gosport – are recovering with broken legs. Sgt Andy Lynch said the girls were lucky not to have more serious injuries.

Officers arrested three people – a 30-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man from Gosport and a 21-year-old man from Fife, Scotland. They have been bailed until October 5.
