A MAN has been handed a suspended sentence for assaulting a woman.

Jordan Harrington, 21, of Sheffield Road, Fratton, Portsmouth, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He assaulted Lisa Trew on September 10 in Portsmouth.

Harrington was handed a 20-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

The victim was left with a facial injury in the unprovoked attack.

Harrington must complete a rehabilitation activity requirement of 15 days.

A restraining order bans him from contacting the woman.

He must pay £250 compensation, £80 victim surcharge, £300 prosecution costs and a £180 criminal courts charge.

Harrington pleaded guilty to Portsmouth magistrates.
