A 10-year-old Portsmouth boy had a lighted aerosol sprayed at him by thugs.
Police revealed today that sometime between 7.45pm and 8.10pm on Wednesday, the victim was walking with his friend, aged nine, near the playpark at Bridgeside Close off of Canal Walk.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘The boys saw of group of three men in their early 20s playing with a lighter.
‘As they approached and walked past the group, one aimed an aerosol can in their direction and lit the spray with the lighter.
‘The resulting flame caught the victim’s hand causing some pain but no injury.’
PC Nicholas Jackson said: ‘This was a very foolish thing to do and it’s fortunate the young boy wasn’t injured.
‘If you saw anyone playing with aerosols around this time and location, please get in touch.’
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Jackson at Fratton police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
