COMMUTERS are facing lengthy delays this morning after a crash closed a busy stretch of the A27 near Portsmouth.

Police and ambulances are in attendance at the crash site, which is on the eastbound carriageway, just between the A2030 and the A3(M).

A car lost control shortly before 8.28am and slammed into the crash barrier before coming to a stop in the hard shoulder, police have said.

The collision left debris strewn across the road, forcing emergency services to close three of the four lanes. Some debris was also thrown into the westbound route but this has since been removed.

Paramedics are at the scene treating the driver, although a police spokeswoman said the injuries were not serious.

She added: ‘Drivers should expect delays to their journey while we clear the carriageway of debris.’
