TWO burglaries were carried out in the same village in the space of a few hours.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the raids in Shedfield, near Wickham.

During the early hours of Saturday, offenders entered a house in Pricketts Hill and stole a handbag, Samsung laptop, Apple iPhone and BlackBerry mobile phone.

Later that day, between 3pm and 6pm a house was entered through an unlocked door on Church Street.

The only thing stolen was a set of car keys. It is possible that the offender was disturbed and fled.

Police say they are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked.

PC Graham Wren said: ‘I’d like to hear from anyone who has information about these incidents. Have you seen anyone suspicious in the area?

‘If you do see anyone suspicious you should take down any car registration numbers and contact the police.

‘We would urge residents to be vigilant and to check the security of your homes.’

Anyone with information should contact PC Wren at Winchester police station on 101 or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
