TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of poaching following dawn raids across Hampshire.
A 48-year-old Havant man and a 28-year-old Southampton man are being quizzed by police following searches at their homes and a property in Petersfield early this morning.
Police seized items they suspect were being used for illegal hunting for forensic testing. But they have not revealed what was taken. The arrests were made in a joint operation by Hampshire Constabulary, Wiltshire and Sussex Police and the RSPCA. Hampshire police Inspector Chris White said: ‘The operation was intelligence-led and focused on criminals who visit rural areas intent on committing crime, including poaching, hare-coursing and the killing of wildlife by criminal methods.’
