A MAN who indecently assaulted a 16-year-old girl is being hunted by police.

The victim was walking in Worthing Avenue, Gosport when a man driving a white van parked up and went over to her.

He put his arm round the girl before indecently assaulting her. The girl fled the scene at midnight on Saturday.

She hurried away from the attacker and was approached by a couple who gave the distressed teenager a lift to her home in Fareham.

Detective Constable Neil Harrison said: ‘This incident has left the girl understandably shaken and upset.

‘We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, or has any information about the man responsible. We are particularly keen to speak to the helpful couple who assisted the girl subsequent to the assault.’

The attacker was white, in his late 20s, about 5ft 10in with brown eyes and short, mousy blond hair. He spoke with a foreign accent and possibly wore a white top. Call Fareham CID on 101 if you can help.
