A MAN was headbutted and verbally abused in what police believe to be a racist attack.

The victim was assaulted in Green Road, at the junction with Cottage Grove, Somers Town, Portsmouth.

The 26-year-old man from Southsea was approached by a group of four men.

One of the group shouted racial abuse at the victim before headbutting him, which caused bleeding and a cut to his lip.

The offender ran off towards Brougham Road and St James’s Road, Southsea.

The incident happened at about 7.15pm on Saturday.

The offender was in his mid-20s and between 6ft and 6ft 3in tall.

He was stocky with dark, cropped brown hair.

He was clean-shaven, with a pale complexion and had a square-shaped face.

The offender spoke with a local accent and was wearing dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms, dark navy blue long-sleeved hooded top, which were both unbranded and white trainers.
