POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an unprovoked attack on a young man.

The assault on the 20-year-old man happened as he made his way along Gravits Lane, Bognor Regis on Saturday.

The victim was walking home when the man struck him in the face, sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm.

He hurt his hand as he fell to the ground, knocked over by the blow, but did not require hospital treatment.

Police say the attacker was around 25, 5ft 8in and thin but muscular.

He was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and hood puller over his head, and had a foreign accent.

Police are also appealing for anyone who saw a drunk white man in the Gravits Lane area at around the time of the attack.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police.
