TWO charity shops have been targeted by burglars who made off with takings.

The break-ins happened overnight between Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday morning.

Sue Ryder cancer shop and As Soon as Possible cat rescue, both in Wellington Way, Waterlooville, had cash stolen.

The burglars got in through the roofs and at As Soon as Possible they even made off with the 24 hour rolling CCTV hard drive which would have captured them in the act.

At Sue Ryder they stole the day’s takings, sponsorship money and made a mess going through drawers.

The shop has only been open since February and a source said staff and volunteers at both shops – which are a few doors away from each other – have been left devastated.

It is the first time either of them have been targeted.

Police forensic officers have made an examination of both crime scenes.

Anyone with information about the burglaries should contact police.

Call Waterlooville CID on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with information.
