Suspected arson incident in Waterlooville causes £50,000 of damage

TAXI drivers raced to the aid of a colleague who was being attacked by a passenger.

An alert went over Aqua taxi firm’s digital radio system at 3.30am on Sunday informing drivers that a colleague was being attacked in Starina Gardens, Waterlooville.

A passenger had tried to run off without paying his fare and punched the driver in the face.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Portsmouth, was treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital, for his injuries.

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man from Waterlooville, on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He has been bailed until November 21.
