MAGISTRATES have fined a man who was caught carrying a knife in public.

Lawrence Williams, of Larkwhistle Walk, Havant, was found with the blade after a police search.

Williams pleaded guilty to having the eight inch kitchen knife on him in Havant.

The 19-year-old was given a two-year conditional discharge by Portsmouth magistrates.

He was ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

Magistrates made an order for the knife to be forfeited and destroyed.

He was warned to stay out of trouble for two years.
