POLICE have charged a man with a string of offences relating to the possession of more than 10,000 indecent images of children.

William Rennie is facing a total of 23 charges, including 18 of making an indecent photograph of a child.

The 28-year-old is also facing three charges of making indecent films of children and one of possessing extreme pornography. In all, Rennie is alleged to have had 10,584 indecent images of children.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between August 2009 and September last year.

Rennie, of Woodsedge, Waterlooville, did not enter any pleas when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The magistrates ruled the case was so serious it must be heard at the crown court.

Rennie was released on bail to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court in December when he is due to enter a plea.
