Senior police officer hits out at ‘irresponsible’ drivers after 320 thefts from vehicles

SHOPLIFTER Gavin O’Byrne has been given a conditional discharge.

O’Byrne pleaded guilty to stealing 11 packs of batteries and laundry gel worth £97.54 from a Co-op store in Waterlooville on February 13.

The 27-year-old, from Puffin Walk, Waterlooville, also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody on March 2 after being released on police bail.

O’Byrne was given a 12-month conditional discharge by Portsmouth magistrates.

No order for court costs was made.
