MAGISTRATES have ordered a prolific thief to do 100 hours of community service.

Simon Warton’s latest offences saw him steal £65 of alcohol from the Co-op in Hambledon Road, Denmead, and £35 of drinks from the Co-op in Laburnum Road, Waterlooville.

Warton, 26, was convicted of the two thefts while he was the subject of a community order, handed to him by the courts for previous offences.

He was given the community order for a spate of thefts, including stealing 22 pairs of pants from Matalan in Waterlooville.

Warton, of Orsmond Close, Waterlooville, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft and to breaching his community order.

He was told to pay compensation and costs of £57.
