A MAN has appeared in court charged with internet-related child indecency offences and with sexual assaults on young boys.

Martin Cleverly, 45, of Glamis Street, Bognor, West Sussex, appeared at Chichester Magistrates’ Court charged with 26 offences, including five counts of making indecent images of children, and 11 of distribution of such images.

Three charges relate to unlawful sexual activity with a boy aged 14 in Bognor in 2009 and 2010, and a further seven alleged indecent assaults on two boys then aged under 14 in Crowborough, East Sussex, between 1993 and 1995.

The prosecution has resulted from an investigation by the Paedophile On-Line Investigation Unit of Sussex Police.

The case was committed to Chichester Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on April 26. Cleverly was bailed.

A police spokesman said: ‘We will always follow up allegations of sexual offending and physical abuse, no matter how long ago they are said to have happened.’
