A 72-YEAR-OLD woman confronted a burglar in her home.

The woman had been out shopping when she returned to her home in Walsall Road, Copnor, at 7pm on Thursday.

When she got back, after being out for 10 minutes, saw a man inside her house.

Police say she shouted at him to get out and he ran away.

No property was reported stolen.

Detective Constable Les Leithes said: ‘Police are appealing for witnesses because at this time of the evening the local park, Tamworth Park, would have been busy with dog walkers and young children with parents.

‘Did you see anyone acting suspiciously, running through the park or out onto Langstone Road?’
