POLICE have charged a woman with harassment following an investigation into abusive messages sent to the family of Katrice Lee.

The 33-year-old woman from South Durham has been bailed by Durham Constabulary to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on January 2.

It comes after The News revealed yesterday a woman from Bishop Auckland in County Durham was given a harassment warning after she sent abusive messages to Katrice’s Gosport-based mother Sharon, 59 and sister Natasha, 38, along with friends, when her claims to be the toddler were disproved by the Royal Military Police.

Katrice was two years old when she went missing from a NAAFI supermarket in Paderborn, Germany on her birthday on November 28 1981.
