A WOMAN was mugged as she walked alone through Southsea.

The 21-year-old was attacked by the robber between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on Thursday in Greetham Street.

The man, who is described as white and in his 20s, grabbed the woman’s handbag with such force that she fell to the pavement.

The robber then put his hand into her bag and stole the woman’s wallet, before running off across the nearby railway bridge.

A police spokesman said the woman cut her right elbow as she fell.

The man is described as 6ft, of medium build. He was wearing a scarf with patterned squares which covered most of his face, a khaki-coloured duffle-style coat and dark trousers.

Police are investigating.

The spokesman added: ‘Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting reference 44160132887.’
