POLICE are appealing for information about an indecent assault which took place in Portsmouth.

A 28-year-old woman was walking north along Stamshaw Road – towards the junction of Pitcroft Road – when someone cycled passed and indecently assaulted her.

The incident took place at about 5.30pm on Wednesday of last week, but Hampshire Police have only just released the details.

Police say they have been conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area following the incident.

PC Stephen Wroe, from Portsmouth’s Targeted Patrol team, said: ‘The woman suffered slight injuries.

‘The offender, who was wearing a navy blue hooded top, rode off on a BMX into Pitcroft Road.

‘I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the suspect in the area at the time.’
