Police force is doing ‘all it can’ to keep residents safe from terrorism

POLICE are hunting for witnesses after somebody tried to break into a house in Gosport.

The attempted burglary happened between 2.10pm and 2.15pm on Thursday at a house in Wych Lane.

The victim, a 50-year-old woman, was in bed at the time of the incident and was woken by the noise of entry being forced to her home.

PC Rachel Williams, from Gosport police station, said: ‘This is a very rare occurrence.

‘It appears the offender was disturbed and it is likely they would have left in a hurry along Wych Lane.

‘Did you see anyone running from the scene or acting suspiciously in the area?’
