Hundreds of children danced, sang and met Father Christmas at a huge party.

Children aged under five from Sure Start Childrens Centres across Leigh Park joined together at the party at Horizon Leisure Centre, in Havant, yesterday.

Father Christmas arrived on his sleigh and gave out presents to every child.

His elves, Mr Snowman and even some angels, partied with the under fives at the disco in the afternoon. Mums and children were all given lunch.

The event was organised by the parent forums at Park Families, Sharps Copse and TROSPACC Sure Start centres, with the help of Havant Borough Council.

There are usually three separate parties but they are so popular that it was decided to combine them all.

Karen Marsh, 34, from Harvestgate Walk, Leigh Park, was at the party with her three children and her grandchild.

She said: 'They've had a really fantastic afternoon and loved every bit of it. I think it's great that they've done this party for them. It's good for the parents too.'

Guinness Hermitage housing association, First Wessex housing association, the Co-op, Havant Rotary Club and the Leigh Park Christmas Grotto Committee all helped make the party happen.
