ROCKERS who turned up in force to a Rock and Roll Circus raised an incredible £6,388.96 for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.

The event featured performances from tribute bands Bog Rolling Stones and Silver Beatles and local groups Kojak’s Revenge and Bemis.

Brought together by compere Steve Pitt and DJs Rob Moore, the gig in the Kings Theatre, Southsea, saw crowds of people dancing in the aisles.

One of the organisers, Andy Burgess, who is lead singer of the Bog-Rolling Stones and one of the trust’s patrons, said: ‘It was a great evening and we had a really good turnout. We only expected to get about 500 people but over 800 came, which meant we raised a lot more than we thought we would.

‘It was really special to hand over the cheque to the Prince family and see their reaction. It was a moving moment for everyone involved.’

The Prince family are trying to raise £1m for research into osteosarcoma, a bone cancer which claimed the life of the Southsea youngster the day before his 16th birthday in October 2004.
